My Reason for Blogging

I didn't decide to be a women's rights consultant - it chose me. You see, I was approached by individuals/organisations to undertake research, evaluations, facilitations during the time that I was completing my PhD, and while it had occured to me as a possible career direction it was really nice to be asked.

When I sat down and seriously thought about setting up my own consultancy I knew I would have to have an online presence and that would mean putting myself out there. Initially, the thought of revealing so much about myself on a public forum scared the hell out of me, and while I'm happy to share my joys and challenges with close friends, I am a very private person when it comes to the wider world.

So here I am.The point of this blog is to give you a better feel for what I believe in, my personal stories and opinions on women's rights issues, feminism, gender equality initiatives, development and peace building projects, conferences, what's in the news, as well as my own experiences as a researcher/adviser. I hope that sometimes it will make you laugh, or perhaps give you food for thought, or even inspire you.

My aim is to connect with as many people as possible, who are interested in similar topics. So join the conversation and if you have any comments on my blogs or would like to get in touch to discuss a project or event please do contact me at: shirleygraham.net[at]gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you :-)
